What if my group wins a smaller cash prize?

For example, if we won the $250,000.00 Jackpot (5 numbers correct) and there are 100 members in the pool, each member will get $2,500.00 before tax. And the $10,000.00 Jackpot (4 numbers correct and Megaball) would be $100.00 for each pool member. Cash prizes will be sent by Check to the mailing address on file.

If the total share per member won for the month is Greater than $10.00, we will send a check to all members of the pool by mail.

If the total share per member won is Less than $10.00, we will credit your account by the total winnings which the member can use towards his next month's membership fee.

Will my pool ever have less than 100 members?

How much of the Jackpot will have to be paid in taxes?
The Energy Policy Act of 1992, section 1942, requires the New Jersey Lottery to withhold a minimum 25% of all prize payments to any Lottery winner who has won more than $5,000 on any Lottery wager. At the end of the year, the winner will receive a W2-G form to properly credit the withholding as a tax payment on their federal income tax form.

New Jersey residents who win a New Jersey Lottery prize are not required to pay any New Jersey state income tax on their winnings. Winners who do not possess a social security number are subject to a 30% federal income tax deduction on any prize over $599.50.
